The so-called bearing lock is that the bearing generates a lot of heat during the operation, the heat can not be dissipated in a short time, resulting in a sharp rise in the bearing temperature, and finally the bearing is locked. This phenomenon is very common in equipment overhaul and production service sites. The specific causes of bearing heat are as follows:

First, improper assembly

  • 1. When the bearing is assembled, the bearing outer ring and the bearing housing hole or the bearing inner ring and the shaft are improperly matched.
  • During the assembly process, the inner hole was not ground and the size was measured, and the new bearing was replaced for assembly. After the test, the temperature rise was too high. When the detection amount is removed, it is found that the bearing housing hole has been deformed, so that the outer ring portion of the bearing is squeezed, resulting in a small radial gap of the bearing, and the rolling element is unevenly rotated and the wear is intensified. The inner ring of the bearing and the shaft are too large, and the inner ring of the bearing rotates with the rolling element and the shaft, and the friction causes the bearing to generate heat and vibration.

  • 2. The bearing heating temperature is improperly controlled during assembly.
  • If the temperature of the bearing heater is too high during the heating operation, it will cause tempering and the hardness and precision will be lowered, so that the bearing temperature will rise, causing the bearing to aggravate the wear and damage.

  • 3. The bearing clearance is improperly adjusted during assembly.
  • In actual work, many installations are sometimes only debugged by hand, and the gap is too large or too small to meet the production needs. If the axial clearance is too small, it may cause the bearing to heat up, accelerate the pitting, and even cause the rolling element to be stuck or glued. If the axial clearance is too large, the impact force of the moving pair will increase, and the rigidity will decrease, which will lead to the operation. Unusual, even causing severe vibration or damage to the cage.

Second, the oil seal problem

The oil seal is a sealing member for sealing oil for sealing a rotating shaft in a mechanical device, and the cavity is substantially stationary, so the oil seal is also called a rotary shaft lip seal. For the oil seal with the secondary lip, the secondary lip acts as a dustproof to prevent the intrusion of impurities to prolong the life of the oil seal, but the secondary lip is often poorly lubricated and the friction is large, causing the oil seal to dry and be damaged, so when installing the lip seal Always fill the lips with grease.

Third, the gap problem

During the assembly process, if the size of the spacer is not carefully checked and the assembly test is carried out, the temperature will rise rapidly after a certain period of time. The outer ring size of the bearing has been determined by the end cap and the bearing seat stop. The size of the spacer is reduced, the inner ring size will be adjusted by the round nut, and finally the bearing will be compressed, and the axial clearance of the bearing will become smaller, which will cause heat during operation.

Fourth, the lubrication problem

The grease in the bearing should not be too much. If the amount of fat is too large, the friction torque will increase and the bearing temperature will increase. If the amount of fat is too small, reliable lubrication will not be obtained and dry friction will occur. Generally speaking, the suitable amount of fatliquoring is 1/3 to 1/2 of the total void volume in the bearing.
